Adult Summer Sewing Camp

Hey you! Yes, you—the one who watches her child go off to camp and sees all the FABULOUS stuff she makes? Well, this is your summer for camp! For one week (Monday through Friday, 6-9pm), you’ll work on up to 2 amazing sewing projects from one of our favorite design companies—Merchant & Mills. First up—the Camber Dress (or shirt or tunic, your choice) sewn up in fabulous Irish linen. It’s not tricky, but it has all the details that scream quality ready-to-wear. And if you finish up early, you’ll be able to add the Costermonger market bag/backpack to your take home loot. Your tuition includes use of all machinery and sewing supplies, expert instruction, try-on samples and yummy treats. Upon registering, you will choose your supply kit from Modern Maker at an additional cost (payable at the first class).

Cost: $150 + supplies (available through Modern Maker)

Summer Jeans Workshop/July 19-21

Hate ill-fitting jeans? Why not make your own! In this Jeans Workshop, over the course of a weekend you will cut and sew your own high rise jeans (the Megan Nielson Dawn Jean). This is a two day sewing workshop with a custom fit session on Friday night (along with wine & cheese). Once you’ve found your fit, we’ll make alterations to your pattern pieces, cut the premium denim and start sewing! On Sunday evening you’ll walk out of our studio dope as hell. Your tuition includes delicious lunches, jean sewing pattern, and a premium denim kit (denim, topstitching thread and hardware). Prior to the start of class, you’ll receive a detailed survey regarding your sizing and denim preferences.

July 19 (Friday) 7-10pm: try on sample jeans, find your fit, and pick your pant leg style (tapered, straight, or wide leg)

July 20 (Saturday) 10-5: cut fabric, sew pockets, install zip or button fly, attach back yoke, top stitch pockets

July 21 (Sunday) 10-5: sew inseam, attach waistband and belt loops, finish with premium hardware and VOILA!

This class is suitable for adventurous beginners on up through accomplished sewists who are eager to make their first pair of jeans.

Summer Sewing (and More!) Kids Camp

Kids LOVE making things, and we’re here to help! In our summer kids sewing (and more!) camp, your child will learn about all things textile while creating her/his very own projects. Campers will learn machine and hand sewing, embroidery and knitting, and figure out how to use these skills work to make projects reflecting their own interests. Past projects include: jeans embroidery, summer shorts/skirts, pillowcases, and the very on-trend bulky knit scarves. The number of campers is limited so each has ample individual access to our instructors and materials.

Camp session: Mon-Fri 9:30am to 12:30pm. Please bring a snack.

Ages: 9-15

Fee: $350 (includes ALL supplies)
